Do we have to use their wedding Venue

Posted on June 27, 2016 at 4:25 PM Comments comments ()

***9 questions to ask before you book your wedding venue

Don't book your venue without knowing the answers to these all-important questions first...

#1 Will the venue be exclusively ours?

Naturally, you want it to be your day - although bigger venues can sometimes have two or three weddings booked for the same day. If you want that truly exclusive feeling of the venue being all yours, make sure you check whether or not other celebrations will be taking place.

#2 What's your policy on the party running over?

It's very rare for a wedding reception to end dead-on the allocated time - so check with your venue what the deal is if your party runs over. From the venue's point of view, an extended reception means paying staff more, so more likely than not there will be costs involved. Find out how much more you could end up paying in advance, to spare yourself any nasty surprises the day after.

#3 What's your disabled access like?

If your guest-list includes people in wheelchairs, on crutches or unable to walk very far, you'll need to know what the situation is with access. Is there a lift, or a ramp available - and if not, can the venue suggest something?

#4 Do you have changing facilities available?

This is important as if there isn't an area where you and your bridesmaids can get ready together, you'll need to either a) co-ordinate getting prepared at someone's home or b) book a room at a nearby hotel or facility.

#5 What's the deal with preservation?

As in - if it's an old venue, it might come with a few unusual rules, such as stilettos not allowed on certain floors and strictly no confetti to be thrown.

#6 What will we do if the weather is terrible on the big day?

It's crucial to know what the back-up plan is here - especially if the outdoors plays a key part in your celebration!

#7 Do we have to work with your preferred suppliers?

Venues typically have 'preferred suppliers' - tried and trusted vendors and services that they know will provide top-quality service and guarantee a brilliant day. Some venues might insist that couples only book preferred suppliers, so check what the situation is and how flexible they are happy to be.

#8 How involved will your wedding co-ordinator be?

Co-ordinators typically act as a go-between for the couple and their big-day plans; finding out how involved your venue's co-ordinator will be at an early stage (as well as if there are any additional charges associated) will help you work out if you need to book a planner.

#9You have a flexible menu, right?

It's great to be able to give your guests options - and especially if you have a favourite sort of food! If the venue's in-house menu is limited, check that you can bring in caterers who will be able to offer what you want.

13 Unexpected Wedding Trends 2016

Posted on May 31, 2016 at 11:55 AM Comments comments ()

In searching for new ideas and creativity for weddings, sometimes we often think that reaching for an out of the box way of wowing our guests isnt the answer!  But guess what, it just might do the trick! Here are some trendy and fun ways to add a little splash and pizzazz to your occasion:

  • Go GoPro

Think outside the whiskey bottle and GoPro bouquet that made the rounds last year on YouTube. A GoPro can be used to film incredible unique moments from your wedding.

The newest models feature a burst mode, so you can create a time lapse of your processional of the setup of your wedding. If you're having a destination wedding, The GoPro can be a great way to include in the excursion trips. Or take one of your honeymoon and include it in your wedding video. You can rent GoPros so you don't even have to lay out all the money.

  •  Dance down the aisle

What a unique way of making your wedding a fun and free atmosphere where you knock out all the possibilities of being nervous before you say I do and do a little dancing to your favorite tunes with your bridal party in a processional march, or just take your time going down the aisle.

  •  Get a Non-Traditional Wedding Officiant

Your vows are unique, so why not your officiant? A great officiant will roll with the punches in case you have a little trouble with your lines.

  •  Grandma Flower Girls

Without grandma as your matriach you wouldn't be there for the big day. And it's hard to get cuter than a grandma tossing petals.
  • Sing the Vows

The Groom serenading the Bride in front of their guests with what could possibly be the most creative vows ever! That's thinking outside the box!

  •  Sing the toasts

The bridal party begins to read what they were going to present to the bride and groom as a toast, but all of sudden got cold feet and decided to do something a little different. A little tune came in and they started to sing the toast and got the guests in on the action to come together as a group to serenade the bride in groom in a groovy tune to toast their nuptials! Now that is taking the reception to the next level!
  • Parade your Love

Have fun while taking your portrait shots between the ceremony and reception. Take a parade down the main street with your wedding party.

  •  Get Song Requests Ahead of Time

Ask your friends their favorite dance songs before the wedding. You can print a blank request list on the back of your RSVP cards to ensure a packed dance floor all night. Honoring special requests by family will guarantee that everyone gets to dance.

  •  Portable Video booth

We’ve all seen the props in the photobooth; it’s time to take it outside the booth.

  •  Make a Grand Exit

The trend of the grand exit is in part wanting to keep guests engaged in the later part of the wedding, with the hope of keeping them there as long as they can. Late Night Food Truck anyone? This would be a special send off after the wedding concludes to entice the guests to stay and keep the party going!"
  • Showcase Signing your Marriage License
It may sound a little boring, and yet is so incredibly momentous. Make sure to film this once-in-a-lifetime event so you can watch it in the years to come.
  • Reverse your Roles
Try carrying the groom over the threshold instead.
  • Share a Highlight Video
The Bridal Guide suggests that getting a highlight video is the best way to share your wedding with those who were there and those who couldn’t make the big day. Rather than hauling out the wedding album, or having people watch a long DVD,
